The BBS wheels I am referring to are found on the following page http://www.mstuning.co.uk/main.php?content=bb_air2 and they are the sole BBS UK importers according to the site.  Anyway, under the technical section on this page, a 5.3kg figure is given for weight saving. Air 2 CK 9 or 9.5 x 19" - will 9 x 19" fit under the Mk5 arch?  I'm certainly not going to be rolling arches or modifying them in anyway.

I've been looking at that site - Hadn't seen those wheels (looks pricey!) - a bit heavier now than the b#gger all items of earlier -
I think that size may be a bit big especially if you are thinking of lowering. R GTI concept is 'apparently' running on 265/30-19 tyres but no indication on rim size.

Did you manage to get a price form these geezers? I've had to mail and waiting a response on 8x19. If you look at other BBS dealers they all indicate 8.5x19 with no indication of the former hence my confusion of whats the right wheel size. :undecided:

Just read the new Leon Cupra review in Autocar.  They didn't rate it (handling not engine) but claimed it had a bigger turbo, new cylinder head plus other mods to push out 240hp.  Could this be the same lump they drop into the GTI 30.  Would make sense.  They can then just understate the BHP or just turn down the boost.

Some more official pics here...

I've been looking on a few German forums, using my schoolboy German :)

A few people have found that on ETKA, the Edition 30 does indeed share the same part numbers as the Audi S3 engine for the turbo, cylinder head, block and internals. Seems to have a smaller intercooler though, with a different part number

Could well be the SEAT unit in disguise, but with different mapping

If this is true do you see the tuning companies developing a remap?  Could easily push out the same as an S3.  Would they bother with only 1500 being made?

I'd reserve judgement until more info available.. :undecided:
I'd guess that it could be remapped...whether or not you'd want more power through the front wheels is debatable

These were the part numbers that people on a German forum had noticed were the same, using ETKA

Turbo:

195 Kw engine code BHZ (S3)     06F 145 702 C KKK
169 Kw engine code BYD (Jubi)     06F 145 702 C KKK

Block and internals:

Rumpfmotor BHZ (S3) 06F 100 035
Rumpfmotor BYD (Jubi ) 06F 100 035

but different intercoolers - they suggest that the Edition 30 is a smaller capacity intercooler:

Ladeluftkuehler S3 1K0 145 803 P
Ladeluftkuehler Golf 1K0 145 803 A

My local dealer has contacted VW UK and the answer is no, only way would be to order a set through though a german dealer i would imagine.
