Best place?

im looking for a mk2 golf  and after a fair bit of reading (comparisons,personal opinions an so on) i think i want to go for the 16v version.now,where would be hte best places to look out for one of these,and also what are the main things to look for when buying? i already know about cut n shuts and other similar dealings but im on about common golfy problems mainly

rivers...............are not a good place to look, try the for sale here or on Edition 38 (link on mainpage) lots of good mk2s about if your gunna pay good money. as for common problems, 2nd gear crunch is a bit of a bugger
