I am currently doing a Mk1 16 valve project need some help if possible. Dose anyone know if i can put power steering full system (subframe everything) from a Mk2 on to my Mk1?

nope wont fit! LHD MK1s had PAS as an option from the factory, but not RHD. You could however get an aftermarket kit, which used various parts from several cars. Its not easy or cheap to find though!

ah thanks m8 i was gena take everything off an try fitting it, u tryed fitting it before? got any ideas on were 2 look for the aftermarket kit??

problem is the mk2 kit bolts to the subframe, and the MK1 kit bolts to the bulkhead, so the difference between em is pretty huge!
The MK1 kits sometimes come up in the forums and on ebay, but very rarely!

Thanks, yeah was looking at subframe 2day 2 see if it would fit on Mk1 did not look good. I have another look tomorrow maybey if i modified it see wat happens
really wana put it on!!

I belive you can get electric power steering kits that may just fit that bit easier??

This focus has been pushed back until later this year, due to me focusing on moving to the USA. I'll be updating on this soon in Oct/Nov06 timeframe...

I have read on the
www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk
that the Renault Clio rack and Rover track arms will fit.
I have got 15's on mine and its not difficult to drive. I was going to fit the power steering kit but found it was not worth the hassle.
