Hey I keep telling people here.
When the 1.8 turbo is cold, just wait for the revs to settle down before pulling away - about 30 seconds. Otherwise the sensors are in slight conflict with each other. The cold start is ECU generated with a dose more fuel, hence revs are higher, then they will fall when inlet manifold is warmer, then all the other gismos get into action, the MAF etcetera.
Start the engine, get yourself comfortable, select something on the CD, then drive off, go for the throttle when the road is safe and free of lunatics ...Huh
