running probs!!!

re:- 1984 mk2 1.8 8v ---  starts up fine --  after five mins runs like a bag of ****  - realy lumpy and nearly stalls on tick-over off tick over not to bad but on hard driving it pinks like a mother -- sumtimes it woun't start and backfires

are these the k-jet ones? am i wrong or are they not designed to run on unleaded really?

I think your right K-Jets were up to 85 I believe on the 8v and the mk2 16v was k-jet. I know my 89 16v has a K-Star chip that is suppose to help it run on unleaded fine. Don't know if it makes much of a difference though.

8v had k-jet until 1988, all 16v are k-jets.
K-jets require 98RON fuel, so lead is not required.

k-jet is mechanical fuel injection
digifant is fully electronic fuel injection

tell the difference by looking at your airbox, if it has loads of fuel lines coming out of the top then it is k-jet.
