Hi, im trying to get some info on the wiring on a G60 conversion for a vw mk1 cabriolet.
I`ve basically finished it, engine, gear box, mounts, ecu and g60 loom for the engine management, front mounted cooler, like i said its basically finished but im stuck on connecting the wires to the ignition coil ? i have the dizzy plug in and heres where im guessing it, i have the green wire from the ecu connected to the (-) but which other wires do i connect ?
The car was converted by 2 garages previousley, 1 installed most of it and TSR finished it. ive since cleaned it all up so its nice and tidy under the bonnet, the g60 loom is completley separate to the cars original wiring, and all re-wrapped. the only wire not connected was the green so i think this is surley connected to the coil.
The original loom coming from the dash only supplies lights, oil/water temps, starter, wash bottle and horn. some wires have been chopped as i think the g60 loom must take there place, this was done by 1 of the garages, those chopped are -
2 thin
black2
black a little thicker
1 thin
brown/
black1 thin
purple/
black1 thin
red/
black1 thick
red/white
1 thin
brown(are 1 of these for the coil) ?
The thing is, the car was running when i replaced the old g60 engine with this new 1, so i can`t see where the original wire/s have gone, they should be still hanging about sumwhere ? as u can see im abit puzzled and at a loss, my mate helped me take the old g60 lump out and hes hard to get hold of so i dont know if he cut the connectors off ?
Basically what i need to know is which wires connect 2 the ignition coil when converting a vw cab to a g60, what colours, which go to possitive and negative, how meny and where they come from i.e g60 loom or from dash loom, help need desperatley, thanks guys
