mk1 or mk2? and how much?

in my calculations mk1 is 844kg and mk2 940kg. am i right?

I know the mark 1 is lighter hence the 0 - 60 times are quicker. Fcuk knows the weight of em tho  ::)

i thought a mk2 was about 1200kg, may be wrong tho. would look but its raining!  :(

according to Haynes the mk2 gti is 1003kg..

1000kg for gti, maybe true, then a sh!ty 1.3 C o CL would weight in 940kg

but it says the GL is 892kg

it is an approx figure for the GTi

they must all vary, as some have elec windows or PAS which all adds to the weight..

Figures taken from the 1990 VW Specification and Equipment listing:

Golf GTI 8v 3 door: 920kg
Golf GTI 8v 5 door: 940kg

Golf GTI 16v 3door: 960kg
Golf GTI 16v 5door: 980kg

I can't remember how heavy the Mk1's are, although 840kg seems to ring a bell.
