Which one is better - VR6 or 1.8T?
« on: 19 August 2006, 13:32 »
Hi, i've fallen in love with my girlfriends mk3 and am seriously considering dropping into the VAG pool :D

but after being used to my 206 i need something quick, handles well, and has an excellent options package (like i think the VR6 has leather heated seats?)

have been told the vr6 is nose heavy cos of the lump, and looking at the times sheets in the back of PVW the 1.8T's seem to be the better car, but i don't believe all i hear and don't believe all i read, i'm not that naive :P

so i thought i'd ask the people who really know (you guys ;))  Can you help me out here? hopefully then i'll round on this forum more often

Cheers

Dan

well they are two very different beasts and the 1.8t will be a mk4! if you like the mk3's then get the vr (you will hard pushed to find a low milage one now mind) if you want a newer car then get the mk4, you have two choices for the mk4 too, 150 or 180! i think its all down to wallet and which one you find a better car to drive/look at! the choice is yours!  :undecided:

am tempted by the diesel but someone stated that as long as i remember they have a real narrow power band , then it'd be fine, but i assume this to be bull also :D

i really like the sound of the VR6

but i like the potential from the 1.8T

and the 4WD also sounds fun, damn too many options :(

can anyone give a rough price for a 'good - excellent' condition example of each of the above?

That is until you spend the cash getting it remapped and a nice turbo put on it.
