How long to service

anyone know how to view the days to service in the MFD.  I have the bog standard GTI with no hiline comp.

Tried all sorts lol just concerned i brought it to dealer when i had the service bug asking just before 10k, its got 19k on it and still nothing, and i cane the living daylights of out it and the oil dont look to good. 

Was expecting it to come on arounf 16ish tbh.

on mine..(also bog standard computer) ...turn the ignition on but dont start the engine..(wait for beeps about seat belt to stop)..then hold down the trip reset button for 5 seconds...it then tells me the miles and number of days to next service.....

incidently..I've done 17k and the computer tells me service on 3.5K miles....that'll take it to over 20k miles...pretty mad really...but dealer says its ok

Trust it ONLY if your car was new and on variable servicing.

If your car is used just take it to VW and get it serviced!

How do you work out the service with Highline?  Dutch manual doesn't explain service guides

Its the same on all versions - both high and low

Ignition on - engine off then press and hold 000 button and wait 10 secs!

Hi All,

had a look at my miles to service and was shock to find i have only got 1500 or 113 days to service.

to date i have only done 10500 miles?
use the car everday although its stop/start.

My Car(3dr manual,17") has done 4898 miles from new.(reg 1/4/06)

Service indicator says 8700 miles to go, or 356 days.

So, first service at approx 13,500 (April/May 2007)

Car does many short trips.

Av fuel consumption 33mpg on Shell Optimax.

well in the end i chickened and booked it in for a service.  Even though VW says its ok, it just doesnt feel right, thrashing a car with old oil lol.
btw computer says 2700 to service that would also make it around 21k

I recently got a 6month Gti and was told as it was on a longlife service, it would be 10k+ before the service was due.

The car was only 7500k miles into it's life and said that the service was due in 1400miles or 178days.  Thankfully, the dealer sorted it out and paid for the first service.  Apparently it wasn't set to the longlife service, of which I got them to change it to.

The question I have is when I press the 000 button to get a length of time for the next service, all it comes up with is --- miles or --- days.  Is this correct as I have only just had the service, or should I get in touch with the dealer.

funny you say that, mine was serviced last week and i noticed the same --- when you check the time to service

I guess it will kick in at some stage
