Where do i stand?

4 months ago a friend was driving my car and managed to rip the bumper off the mount on a grass bank. She paid for the car to go to a local bodyshop to have the bumper fixed.

Last night while driving down a FLAT road my bumper fell off the back of my car!!! Luckly nobody was behind me or it would of caused a quite serious accident! my bumer is scrateched and the underside splitter has taken a right battering!! If a motorcyclist had been riding behind me at the time it could of caused a fatal accident!!

It looks like the bodyshop simply put 4 dollops of fiberglass on the metal bumper mount and then tigersealed the bumper to the dollops of fiberglass  Im trying to get hold of the bodyshop now. I persionally dont feel i should have to pay for the repaires as i expect a bumper to last longer then 4 months!!! Am i in the right?

tigerseal is good stuff, but not on a bumper 

You should get in touch with them and find out what they are going to do about it. Did you or your friend get a receipt for the work carried out because that will help a lot with this...otherwise they might just fob you off.

luckly the bodyshop do work for all our cars (keeping the bodyshop annonimious for now) and we are all on first name bases with teh staff. No reciept but its common knollage that they fixed the car after the accident.

just spoke to the bodyshop. Waiting on a phone call in the next half hour to find out whats being done about it

i hope u get it sorted hun..ive ended up havin to pay for half the paint to get my scratch done as i cudn prove that the hood fitter had done it..

sounds to me like its their fault it came off so they should do the repairs. Shame it doesnt always work that way but it should in your case buddy.

if its stuck on its not gonna work as a bumper though it needs bolting on. id be very angry tbh thats a dangerous bodge

i'd get it done at a proper garage and send those scamming gyppos the bill. i've heard of cutting corners before but that's a p!sstake.

If the bodyshop doesnt fix it then dont use them again tbh.
