Renewing brake fluid - how much?

I will be renewing my brake fluid in the next few weeks.
Anyone know what quantity the system holds?

Need to know how much to buy?

Buy 2 litres, that will give you more than enough to get the old fluid out.

just renewed all my brakes bleed em till fluid came out no air, no i have to push pedal almost all the way to the floor before it stops, but when it does it does if u no wot i mean, help

Get a pressure bleeder kit, halfords do one for 15 quid, and 2 litres of brake fluid.
Run it through and that should make a difference.
When you do the rears make sure that you clamp the brake pressure regulator.
A little trick to remove trapped air, jack the rear of the car right up as far as you can get it, pump the pedal about 40 times, leave the fluid to settle for an hour, bleed it. The air will settle furthest away from the master cylinder and at the highest point.

just out of curiosity what do you mean by clamping the brake pressure regulator. I didn't do that when I did mine and had a hell of a time. sounds like a useful trick to know.

The brake pressure reg sits just in front of the rear axle (on the left), it restricts flow to the rear brakes according to axle position, so bleeding the rears will be difficult and pointless if the car is jacked up.
The lever and spring sit on the axle, what you need to do is clamp the lever up, as if the suspension is being compressed down. The spring should compress when you do this.

Now I understand. didn't even think about that when I bleed my brakes. I just used a power bleeder and had a hell of a batlle. finally got it by cross bleeding them. (LF,RR,LR,RF) about 4 times and now they are fine. usually only ABS equipped cars work from this trick but for some reason worked that time. I'll try clamping the load valve next time.

you can do it without clamping the valve, however you will have to bleed the backs without jacking the car up. A bit difficult if the car has been lowered!

That it would. Mine is standard height but it may wind up lower by 40mm in the future. Good trick to know. cheers.
