Get a pressure bleeder kit, halfords do one for 15 quid, and 2 litres of brake fluid.
Run it through and that should make a difference.
When you do the rears make sure that you clamp the brake pressure regulator.
A little trick to remove trapped air, jack the rear of the car right up as far as you can get it, pump the pedal about 40 times, leave the fluid to settle for an hour, bleed it. The air will settle furthest away from the master cylinder and at the highest point.
