I.S.V
« on: 11 August 2006, 09:32 »
Alright guys, looks like the I.S.V has finally given out on me, it was bad a few months ago so I gave her a real good clean, no problem for a little while. It came back so I've gave it an even better clean (including all pipe work) but still no joy. It doesn't stall everytime at junctions when I dip the clutch, just usually! I find that if I brake till the revs are at around 1k, then dip the clutch it'll catch it more often than not.

Anyone got anymore tips to get it back on it's feet again, or failing that is anyone selling a reliable unit? It's from a 92 J plate 8V.

Ah didn't think of this, just assumed it to be the stabilisation valve, as it's had trouble in the past. If it helps the idle on tick over is fine, no random hunting, might do a very slight amount when first started (esp if it's cold or been a few day since running last) but only for a few seconds and I guess this is normal?

Should I try a good blast of WD40 on the idle switch then?

yeah i think it is, but its worth making sure the wires arn't damaged.  Mine made the idle get steditly worse till they snapped.  I also noticed that after I repaired them it threw my base idle out by quite a fair ammount!
