Here's my old crate of a MK1...

Its an 1983 Ex-German post office van(but its awlways had side windows) its a 1600 Diesel and is in the Original Ginster yellow with only the bottom of the R/H rear 1/4 thats ever been painted...
Me and a My Ex business partner were given it in 1999 by a english RAF guy who had driven it back from Germany and couldn't be arsed to MOT and register it. My partner used it as the company hack for 4 years and then when we shut the company down we sold it to friend of mine... after 18 months i bought it back off him and put about 10k more miles on it in 6 months before putting it into hibernation until i get round to carrying out an engine conversion from a 1985 Scirocket GTX that i broke up...ÂÂÂ

Dunno, it was on about 260,000 when the original speedo stopped working about 5 years ago, it now has a GTI speedo but that packed up too... must be around the 200,000 miles by now, engine still goes well but the clucth slips and its a 4 speed so i figure its really due for the GTX lump

Sweet mk1 mate, love it!! Not surprised you went for the engine conversion, got a 1.6 diesel in my van and it does take a while to get places! Planning on a conversion next spring!
You going to e38? Would love to see it in the metal!
