How is that wrong? An alarm holds a memory of codes. A certain code is assigned to an alarm main unit, and the key fob that is used to open/close, arm/disarm the alarm.
They have a reserve power supply that will keep a code for something around the 30min/1 hour time period. Anymore than this and they lose their memory. Hence needing it to be re-programmed. Which is a costly process, (last time i checked the cheapest was about £70 if it was just the keyring part that needed resetting)
