« on: 09 August 2006, 09:27 »
HI all bought this car about a month ago great fun and is my first golf. I have found that when i get to 3000 revs i seem to get a stutter with the acceleration this last till about 3200 and then all is fine again. was wondering if anyone had, had the same problem and what they did to rectify it.

cheers

I've got exactly the same prob with my P reg too!

I had the cutting out problem a while back, tho to solve that i changed the ECU's, coil pack, dizzy and crank sensor so they can be counted out! and cleaned out the throttle body.

Anyone else have any this stuttering problem or know how to solve it?

Try disconnecting your MAF sensor,
if it goes fine after you need a new one!

YEP! as monkeyalan says go for the relays!

The most common fault with Mk 3's!
They dont show up on a diagnostic check either!
They only cost about a tenner so its always a good starting point.

I may also be able to shed some light on this.

Whilst running through the service history for mine - VW found a "stalling problem" this was put down to a spilt vacum hose.

Something which is also fairly common on vauxhalls as well.

If the above doesnt work this could be a point of investigation.

Hope it helps.

Get it scanned for codes anyway and reset. I have the same stutter in the power as I approach 3k when warmed even slightly - no such stutter cold for the first few minutes but as soon as it warms up it starts to stutter at the same point.

The only fault code I repeatedly get with vag-com on my gti is "000515 - camshaft speed sensor (hall) signal out of range - 16-00 - intermittent" so I guess its a new one for me.

It may be flaky at this particular speed....
