best car for 13 grand?

im looking at agetting a loan for a new car and love the new gti but the cheapest examples are still over 15/16 grand!

Any of you guys know when there gonna come down in price a bit or am i best going for somthing else?  been looking at TT's which have come down in price and i really like them, but there seem to be reliability issues when reading the TT forums.  anyone have any experiance with the TT?

sadly they ain't going to be coming down in price anytime soon; there's still a healthy waiting time and i expect dealers offer very few discounts.  i f i were you i'd buy something a bit cheaper, run it for a couple of years and the look to get a GTI.

and don't geta TT; too common!!!

re the TT: i know there common but i just love the look of them, esp in denim blue, and the finish inside the car felt really nice when i drove it, the only thing thats putting me off is the fact that alot of the owners seem to have problems on the audi forums, but i suppose that dosnt mean that there all lemons?

In my oppinion, the kind of people who buy an Audi TT, are probably more concerned about there under pants, than there under steer.

If you want a car that handles well don't buy a TT. How about a Clio 187, a Leon Cupra R, or a Boxster.
You could even stretch to an older 911.

yeah looked at the clio, not sure about the build quality?  most of the boxster at my sort of price range are looking a bit ropey (97/98 examples).  not really looked at any cupra r's yet, athlough ive heard and read alot of good thingas about them, thanks for your suggestions.

what about civic type R or cooper s?  thoughts on these?

cooper s - great drive, solid residuals for now but might be worth waiting to see what happens when the new model is out

type r - quick, but not much torque so no good with passengers. Needs revving, not necessarily a bad thing?
