MK1 GTI NO SPARK AND NO POWER GETTING TO COIL PLEASE HELP!!!!

HI I HAVE A 1983 MK1 1.8 GTI AND HAVE BEEN HAVING FIRING PROBLEMS.IT THEN LOST ITS SPARK COMPLETELY.IVE TRIED A NEW FUES BOX AND AMPLIFIER UNIT PLUGS LEADS AND DISSY CAP BUT THE COIL IS GETTING NOW POWER.COULD THIS BE A BROKEN WIRE AND IF SO HOW DO I TRACE THIS.ANY HELP WOULD BE HUGELY APPRECIATED.

Try your ignition switch behind the ignition barrel, or it could be as you say a broken wire, I would bet on the ignition switch though.

If you're fuel pumps not priming then you might need a fuel relay switch too. About £20 from GSF.
