bought me mk 3 GTi 8v a few weeks bk

First things first i am having so much fun with the car its unreal. I do think that it isnt breathing as it should do when i get to 3000 revs and was woundering if this common and what can be done to help this??whats ppls opinion on drilling holes in the air box or replacing it wil a panel filter or k&n kit??

Induction kit is not really worth looking at if you do a lot of town driving as it sucks all the hot air from the engine in. I run one purely for the noise :evil: and have some nice cold air feeds to it.

Panel filter is cool as uses the original box to shield from the heat. Drilling the box will get more air in, but again it will be hot air unless you are out on a run and cool air is flowing through.

If you want to go mad then look at the BMC cda system...if you have £180 spare  :wink:

Already got got a canny noise off the exhaust so dont want the k&n kit.so will prob just put the panel filter on.  You know if any of the chips that are on ebay are any gd??

I wouldn't know personally as haven't used one. Mines been done by AmD, was expensive but well worth it for power and economy...get 38-40mpg on a motorway run...40-45 on a 50-60mph run and 32-36 around town :smiley:

Cheap chips are just that imo...but someone might know of a brand that is ok and just doesn't up the fueling and give you a blown engine.
