oh yeah if anyone knows if there is a 'red' golf badge in 'anni' style lettering let me know!!! , and if the vw badge can be in the same style also would be nice!!!! ;D

Hey Mate, I have to go back to the U.S. on the 12th of Janurary for a court date. I'll have a look at the VW dealers around where I'll be and see what I can find. They may be able to order one in for me.

the golf is known as a rabbit in the states.

Up until 1985 they were Rabbits. Basically mark 1 Golfs. I remember I had a beige 4 door with 2 square headlights  and beige vinyl interior. very stylish but couldn't kill it. From 1974 through 1979 they had the MK1 style round lights but from 1980 to 1984 they had to square sealed beam headlights. Would be nice to have that grille setup here as I haven't seen one here. From 1985 they were Golfs but the GTI didn't have the 4 headlamp grille until about 1989 or 90 timeframe. They had a jetta grille and lamps in them.  I don't remember them having the repeaters on the wings either. The 16valve GTI was a 2,0 liter with A/C from the factory and Recaro interior. I think most of the 91 models had leather as well. I had an 85 8v in Mars red for a while. Excellent car. I bought it in Texas from a breakers yard and it was in Really nice shape as far as the body went but the interior looked like it had a pack of dogs living in it. The car wouldn't run and I gave $200 for it. The story was that a fella rebuilt the engine and it wouldn't run. He then got mad and junked it. All that was wrong was he had the distributor out by 180 degrees. I bought an entire 91 16v that had been smashed and swapped out the interior into it.  You wouldn't believe what I had to pay for a 4 lamp grille to get rid of the sh!te looking Jetta Grille. :) GTI's are suppose to have round lights! unless it is a rallye :) Ahhh reminicing. lol

By the way Knite, Nice looking Motor mate. I like the looks of the mk4's.

The 90 and 91 GTI looked just like here except Left hand drive and A/C was standard on GTI models as was recaro interior.

I'd go for the blue. Yellow would also look good on your black car as well. I think the 32 uses Brembo's or something along those lines. I painted mine red to match the GTI stripes. Pain in the arse as I wound up taking them off and bead blasting them before painting. lol. Holding up well though. :)

yeah mate 4 years old should look fine with a wire brushing. Mine had some scale on them and I had the backs off anyway for a rebuild (damn mk2 parking brake  :( ) The place I was working out of had a blast cabinet so i decided to go the whole way. how do you like the mk4? is the turbo worth it? I had the 1.8 turbo in a TT and loved it. Pulled like mad over 2700 rpm up to the limiter. looked really close to the same engine except for the Audi rings on the engine cover. is yours a 6 speed or 5? not sure what the put in the mk4's. take it easy mate.
