Door problem - central locking?
« on: 06 August 2006, 10:24 »
Hello, I'm new to forums and was after a bit of advice.

I've got a Mark 3 golf that I've had for about 7 years now.

Yesterday, I put my daughter in the passenger side of the car and went to close the door and it would not close - it was like it was already locked.  Fiddled with it a bit and nothing.  Opened the driver side and the same thing happened.  After a while the driver side door released and closed on it's own.  The passenger side closed eventually but I don't think it was down to anything I did.

On speaking to a friend they reckon it was related to the central locking and that this could be solved but disconnecting one battery terminal.

I'm not keen on going back out in it and the same thing happening again.

Does anyone else have a view on this??

Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks

could be the central locking pump

the central locking works on air and the pump is located under the drivers side rear light
i would get that checked out to see if there is a problem with it
