Paint damage... not happy.
« on: 31 July 2006, 01:29 »
A 6th Form kid thought it would be funny to smash an egg on my windscreen on Friday... ruining a great week of summer school (which I'd arranged for him too be paid for helping out at). I managed to get it all off with a water/vinegar mix as prescribed by a science teacher. Unfortunately some of the egg had splashed onto the bonnet and onto the roof. On washing the car I noticed that the paint had became dull in the areas where the egg was. I had the paint checked at VW's paint and body shop on Saturday and the guy said machine polishing should put it right (at a cost of £90 plus vat) If the damage is too deep, the panels will need to be repainted at a cost of £600 + vat approx. (apparently the protein in egg reacts with paint?!)
I'm not usually a violent person, but if I'd have got my hands on this character on Friday, I would be out of a job by now, if not banged up. This kid has just submitted an application form to join Warwickshire Police.

I'm going to get his details in the morning and ring his dad at work. I'm going to explain the situation as calmly as possible and point out that if I need to claim on the Schools/Unions insurance I'll need to report the incident to the police for a crime number... as, according to the union, it's criminal/malicious damage.
(not good for his application, me thinks)
I just hope his dad's a decent guy who will 'have a word in his ear' and sort something out. I don't want to bury the kid, I just want my car sorted...

 what an idiot... I remember being stupid when I was young, but damaging someone else's property - esp a £20k+ car was a redline that I certainly wouldn't have crossed...

To cut a very very long story short, the car's going to be repaired and will be paid for by the people concerned.

knee-cap him... sound's like a plan   You could also consider taking him to your local Vet for castration   It would calm him down - all that testosterone coursing through his veins...
