Fans cutting in after driving
« on: 28 July 2006, 13:31 »
As i said in a previous post i have just got myself a nice shiney16v. The other nite i had been out on a journey and had been home for about 15mins when the cooling fan started up. I went outside and checked it out and the engine was still quite warm. I put the keys in the ignition and the fans cut out i took them out again and the fans whirred back into life. This happened for about 3 mins then they cut out by themselves. I was gettin 36 odd mpg with the aircon running and the oil temp was 88-92 the water temp gauge was pointing to 12 o clock. Is this normal on the 16v as in my old 8v it never happened, or is it connected to the air con?

Any comments appreciated fellas

normal I think. I regularly get the cooling fans turn on when I park up, and my thermostat is stuck open... Temperature rarely gets above 80!

Fans in this weather should kick in . The reason they stop when you puty the ignition on is that the cause a load on the battery and wont help when starting the car.
