Golf 16v mk3 lowering

Hi there new to this site and 16v mk3. Have had an early 8v (92) and have just got a late 16v (97). One thing i have noticed is that the 16v sits a lot higher than the 8v. Having looked at other later 16vs this is obviously the standard for it, so how do i go about lowering it. Is it possible to just change the springs and if so what kind of drop is still comfortable but will give it a better look. Or is it best to replace the dampners as well, if so what is a good kit and again how much should i look to drop it. Presumably adjustable would be better but also more expensive, can anybody suggest a cheaper but still quality brand.

Ok cheers what kind of drop front and back. Where is the best place to get em from and what sort of dough?

eibach i think only do a 30mm drop back and front on standard shocks.
used price around £60 (ebay)
New around £120 anywhere that sells them.

Eibachs drop 30mm as stated, but the ride on standard shox is sh*te!!

I have the same set up...was told it was propper set up ie springs and shortened shox but isn't and the car bounces over bumps. The shox are fine...passed MOT 1 month ago but the matching of these 2 is not the best.

I would suggest looking at a kit that is matched up...such as G-max or one of the Viper sets...they are £220-250. If you are paying a garage to fit them, it will cost the same to do the springs as fit a whole set up...so you are only saving £100-130 on getting just the springs...plus if your shox are old then the new range of travell might end them quicker than if on standard.

Which ever way you go don't forget to get the camber and tracking done
