Dont pay 1500 or whatever - you can (as I have done) get a VW DVD unit after the fact which solts straight in. I've just done this for 500 quid.

That's the plan, and with the money saved, I can get some custom fit speakers... ;-)

Or you could go for the double din head unit from alpine.  This will set you back about £689 from.

The Navi comes seperate with alpine products £699, but well worth the extra cash.

I now these units will never sit in the dash as flush as the Blaupunkt navi, but if you get a dash professional like the DOC, to install, then I don't think you will be able to notice.

Very tempting, used to have alpine kit in my old car, so for the extra couple of hundred quid for the HU it might be worth doing, especially as it has the iPod link, would need to check to see if it would work with the multi-function steering wheel....

DOC - how much would you charge to install a bit of kit like that ?

Oh Dear

You have got big problems.  Be wiseman.

But that Sat Nav being offered by alpine looks awesome.

Find out how much the DOC would charge, then make your decision.

Don't forget to post pics after install.

The people that ICE'd my old car are looking to charge me 1199 UKP for the HU before adding in the wiring for the steering wheel and install costs....

*ouch*

might have to ping them back to see if I supply the kit they will install it, I'm not paying 40% more than I need to (and I'm not suitably skilled to play around with modern car systems, when the car was a cheap 205 I didn't mind busting bits while playing with ICE, but not on a brand new GTi!)
