I need to have my rear axle bushes sorted (fitted) and have tried the yellow pages but just wondering if any body can recommend any body in my area??? I have being quoted about £170 exc bushes, this sounds a bit steep to me but I have allway's fixed my car's myself. i am thinking of going for standard (eurocar parts bushes or similar) as I've being told powerflex one's can be an acquired taste?

I'll be moving to York in about a weeks time, so this is information I'd like to know too  :nerd:  I've got a trusted mechanic up here in Gateshead and feel scared at the prospect of having to find another one when I move down.

Hello mate.

The only garage i trust with my car is Rudgate auto services. A bloke called Michael owns it. Hes straight talking with good workmanship.
Hes in Tockwith on the industrial estate.

I usually mend stuff myself but when ive needed him hes always sorted me out, and quite reasonably.

Hes worth a try

Good luck

On the note of garages in or around the York area DO NOT USEthe independent VW guy in Thirsk. I changed the the buckets in the head of my Mk1 cab and all it wanted was for him to time it up for me as i had no timming light (bought 1 now) Left it with him went to pick it back up and not only had it used quarter of a tank of petrol, the MPG had gone down from 32 to 24 it was blowing out smoke( I think its head gasket) Thick bluey grey smoke, it had two nice deep scratches on the n/s wing.

WEIRD

Anyway from a simple twist of the dizzy i asked him to do ive now got to replace head gasket, paint front wing then kick him in the nuts!!!!!!!!

So be warned

Car should be back on the road soon, but bourght VR6 in the meantime, as other Golf Cab is looking like a hen house, must start work on that too :undecided:

But as i said earlier try Rudgate in Tockwith
