Does anyone know the price guide on these cars?  For a 1987 D reg golf gti mark 1 cabrio karman, metallic blue, good condition.

Are they rare? Could anyone give me some links to these cars for sale?

any help would be appreciated

you may be able to work it out for urself using these guides thou..
any car goes for any amount a person is willing to pay, but cabs prices tend to go up a tad in the summer months..

dont pay any extra just because its a 'karman'. ALL MK1 cabbies are made by Karman, as are Corrados ;)

I paid £400 for a resprayed empty shell, some corrado seats, 2 engines & gearboxes and about 80% of the parts needed to make a running cabrio

Depends the condition.  I wouldn't sell mine for less that £1200 but everything is sound apart from a bit of bubble rust here and there...oh and the seats need a good clean.

If its mechanically sound then aim for over £1000.  And take into account how much you spent on it.  You will never get your return but things like perfect hoods and good paintwork...and nice alloys (preferebly the 15" cross-spoke BBS ones) always add value.

my advise to you is if you need to replace the hood, get a pro in.  We did it ourselves on ours and its a lot of work, and at the end of the day it still isn't perfect.  The main issue is getting it to sit flush along the join to the window frame, we've taken it off twice and refitted but it still isn't on properly :(
