brake Light failure
« on: 06 July 2006, 18:34 »
Just come back from work and noticed that my brake lights have stopped working (even the high level brake light).

What could this be down to do you think? could it be a fuse or is there a switch connected to the brake pedal??.....pretty sure it's not all of the bulbs that have blown.

Thanks in advance

Stu

There is a switch at the back of the brake pedal that is probably broke, i think the part you need is 1J0 945 511 C

Hello mate, the same thing happened to mine a few weeks ago and it was the brake switch behind the pedal my mate replaced it for me and its wasnt expensive but he did say 99% of the time its the switch that goes and not a fuse. hope it helps. one thing i would say is once its replaced make sure the brake lights come on as soon as you even touch the pedal slightly as mine didnt,  they can be adjustable anyway so its easy to amend. hope it helps
