is the fuel pump on the 1272 single point same as multi point? -do u know the answer to that corin?

Dinx

The fuel pump on my polo is mounted unfer the car with the filter, so i would say probably yes, the pump is likely to be the same.
Since the pump is mounted in a very vunerable position, i think it is worth checking the condition of the wiring.
BTW just because the plugs were done a couple of months ago doesn't mean they aren't f**ked now.
I wasn't saying the plugs were the problem, i was saying they give pretty good clues to what is going on in the combustion chamber, so lift one out and have a look!!

Not sure mate, anyway mines a 1.0L code AAU, 45 bhp
Very similar to the 1.3 single point injection.
Do you think the fuel pump is dodgey then?

Just to answer a question from further back. The Polo GT, or at least mine which is on a 1991 plate, is multi-point injection, exactly the same as the mk2 Golf GTI digifant. Not single point injection!

Can you hear the fuel pump spin over and prime the fuel system when you switch the ignition on, same as a mk1/2 Golf GTI? How does the fuel pump sound?

Just going to try and find my receipt to see which plugs I fitted to mine.........if the problem started when you fitted them then I would suggest that is a good place to look too.

Haven't got the receipt to hand but I think you will find they are Beru W6DTC or Bosch WR6DC+

I think its the '6' that is significant as other are 5, 7, 8 etc.....
