Its a known problem on polo's, oil leaking out the cam cover onto the alternator, causing all sorts of problems.
Is the cutting out problem intermittant? does the car accelerate well when it runs?

it used to...slowly got worse...
i know its hesitant wen u put ur foot down anyhoo..but wen it got going was ok..

So it will be closed loop lambda control.
I would suggest not driving the car if you can, as you could end up with a knackered catalyser  :angry:
Thats if the fuelling is wrong.
Go to Halfords and get a gunston colortune, its like a spark plug with a window so you can see the colour of the mixture, or get the emissions tested.
I say this because it could be a failed lambda sensor. Just another possibility.

Another tip for ya, remove the spark plugs to see what colour they are.

wen i got it, about 2month ago, sparks were done within like a mini service...
