2.1l engine from my kjet mk1 into my mk2
« on: 02 July 2006, 21:26 »
hi all

i abandoned my mk1 project and have a 2.1l bored kjet dx block which was going into my mk1 however ive bought a 1985 (Still kjet) mk2 and want to put the 2,1l into it.

I know most parts are the same its just on the mk2 the airbox and fuel lines etc are on the opposite side to the mk1. the throttle body etc on my mk1 engine is facing the other way is there no way round routing the braided lines and airbox to the passenger side as in the mk1 ??? (just that the ports have been flowed and i want to utilise it)

Also is there anything else i should know for this transplant ??

cheers

unles you have done any head work, just sling the 2.1 bottom end under the MK2 head, job done.  If it has been flowed etc, just swap the MK2 manifolds onto the MK1 head, job done
The only problem you may have is the injectors may differ, which should swap over ok, but if not simply swap the injector inserts over.

cheers for the reply m,ate

Yep i wana keep the mk1 head as its had work done, so i cant keep the existing throttle body on my mk1 engine (as its been flowed) i need to fit the mk2 throttle body and manifold to my mk1 head ?

Cheers

Paul

The throttle body might possibly fit on the MK2 manifold, but the MK1 manifold as you know has the air inlet on the other side so isn't any good for the MK2 intake system.

To be honest i dont think you will notice any difference between the flowed and non flowed throttle bodies so you may as well use the mk2 setup.
