I have a theory that actually my car isn't really running hot and the fan is kicking in when needed. I noticed that my indicated oil temperature depends on what position the interior fan is set to! For example, when the interior fan is off the indicated oil temp might be 100C - position 1 would be 102, 2 would be 104 and 3 would be 106C!!! It literally changes the very instant you touch the switch I guess as the current/resistence changes somewhere. I have the fan on in the hot weaether and it looks like my engine is cooking - I turn it off and the engine looks fine and I'm cooking instead. Presumably the fan switch is unaffected by this nonsense and is kicking in when it probably should. What could cause all this nonsense? Poor earthing somewhere?
