how do you get window winders off so you can take door cards off?

just bought some new wing mirrors for my mk3 golf and can't get the window winders off to sort my mirrors out, becuase needs the door panel removing aparently, anyone know how to do it?

My Golf has leccy windows, so this is from memory!!
Get a legnth of coat hanger wire (6-7inch) bend one end into a very small hook, and the other into a shape that you can hold easily.. slide a flat bladed screwdriver under the winder, where it fixes to the door... look into the gap that you've just made, and you should see a shiny spring clip, hook your new tool into the loop and pull gently sideways... be carefull though!! these clips have a habit of shooting off.. never to be seen again!
To refit, slide the clip back onto the winder, then simply push the winder back onto the splined stem, until it snaps into place
If your car has screw on winders, unclip the cover with a small screwdriver, and undo the screw! simple as that
