Pickin up the performance...
« on: 30 June 2006, 22:20 »
Mk3ers

Can anyone suggest ?

My mk3 8v, has recently had a newman 268deg cam fitted,
the top end revs are sooo much more responsive and mid range better too,
However i do notice a small flat spot when changing gear, i know the obvious
way to smooth this out is to have the ECU chipped or re-mapped, I was
considering Blitz Chip, however due to my ecu housing I can't get it chipped !!!

Anyone know of a good re-mapping agent ? One that fits my wallet ?

Any other suggestions let me know.....

Ive had on of these resisters put on the air flow meter ( didn't like the idea originally !) but tried it
and it smoothed things out..... has made a difference on pick up also.

Did you have the idle & CO re-setup after the cam (properly, the digifant system has to be set up in a certain way!)  The resistor is just fooling the ECU into thinking the car is colder than it actually is, which isn't ideal.

I've heard an adjustible cam pulley is a good investment as it allows you to adjust the power band to suit your driving style.  A remap is always a good idea if you fit a new cam to make the most of it.

I haven't had that co and idle done yet, the tick-over is lumpy under the normal idle speed.
i'm yet to have an exhaust fitted, so when that's done, I'll get it checked out. adjustable cam pulleys...
are they hard to fit ? cheers.
