Ok for strt of, i have had several golfs, and other VW's, the mk2 always my favourite, was goin to build my Jade green 8v into a track car till i found i nice loads of rot under the car, and on bulk head.....So i've bought a 1991 3door Driver in blue for £300, its imaculate, no body rust at all, and all in working order (not that it matters)

Plans are for a 2.0 16v on twin Webers, stripped of anything un nessasary, G60 steel wheels, and lowered a bit, enough to take corners and grip well, yet look stock enough to any non-dubbers!

Will post picks soon, project well under way now, however still alot to do!
2 Mk2's, both in bits, 2 Rocco's soon to become 1, and a Polo 1.3.....
The polo is the only car with MOT and in working order...Doh!!

ok, i want a tidy lookin car, including under the bonnet, goin to loose anything not needed...and as i'm running webers and a 3D ignition map, the std golf loom is not needed, goin to make custom loom and hide behind wings, in chassis legs and anywhere possible! stripped remaining items, cleaned (scrubbed for hours) the bay and rub down any rust, and bare metal, scratches etc and spray with a bare metal rust protector! (the pinky stuff)

A little bit too rusty, will hav to fit a new battery tray!

a can of the rite colour paint (after a strange greeny colour the shop mixed up wrong) and a few minutes later,  the engine bay looks brand new (except the battery tray) and very happy with the results, pitty its on a gravel driveway and goin to get dusty very very quickly...but should b easy to clean off wen needs be!

next was stripping the engine off all the subframes, cleaning, sanding and spraying the sub frames, all in a nice matt black for the 'new' look!

New lower arms too, and painted the front panel in same matt black paint

Fitted all the bushes, minus an anti roll bar and bushes, had problems with this, wrong size bar for bushes, or vise versa, a few people say they cause understeer, so is off now, and may be fitted at a later date!  All the poly bushes i bought 'can be fitted by hand with no specialist tools' b******s, i managed to fit all except the front subframe bushes and then needed a 2 tonne press to push them in, and still struggled (hence all these pictures feature a nice green front frame (hadn't fitted my black one as i hadn't pressed bushes in yet

Bought all compotion engine mounts, and fitted them and a 8v bottom end and a 16v head, to make sure things line up..ie. cooling system, and manifold/exhaust, basically a mock up of roughly wat it will lok like with my valver in it....however i havn't got the Tdi yet, and is the next thing on the list, and the manifold i bought of ebay happened to fit mk3 golfs, not mk2's, so this is how it stands atm!

An engine in, no cooling, no manifolds, no wiring, not hubs, oh it does hav a new fited and painted battery tray thou, waiting for more cash, and time to sort the wiring!

Down behing the engine you can see the all cleaned subframe, steering rack, track rods, all nicely dusty from the driveway

The new arms, bushes and track rods

Vibra-technics compotition mounts (on my green subframe  :undecided:)

Ok, not alot to report, bin spending most my money payin off a few debts and getting my scirocco running rite!

So as i hav no money to spend on the ca, i decided to clean the hubs i got, were rusty, and looked a bit messy, cleaned them with wire brush, and wire wheel in elec drill, de-greased them and painted with hammerite satin black (the closest to matt they do apparently) will get the photo's sorted soon and post them!

Next is the gauges and custom loom, getting ready for the engine  :smug:
