Sorry. another heater/fan question

Fan no longer blows on 1 and 2 setting ?
But still blows on the flat out setting ?

simple to fix ?
any ideas much apreciated....

simple.
The heater resistor has blown. Nab one from the scrappy.
Its located inside the heater casing where the wires plug into

the resistor aint that expensive new, bout ?10 or something

Yep, i bought a resistor from vw a few years back and that was only 20 bar. The ones at the scrappy are probably shagged as well. Easy job to do yourself.

also the fan was squeeling like hell from time to time b4 it broke.

could there have been a problem - thus blowing the resistor ??

take the fan apart and give it a good cleanout then grease it up. Should work after this.

Another tip I've been told is to soak the motor in engine oil overnight (clean or dirty it don't matter) then let it drain THOUROGHLY and reinstall, hey presto no more squeels!

Wow that sounds like a fire hazard though. lol. I had a quart of oil dump over in the garage overnight once (damn Cat) and oil down my drill pretty good. I cleaned it all out with contact cleaner and thought it was good to go but the next time i plugged it in and squeezed the switch it smoked and eventually caught fire. Nothing adds excitment to a day like a flaming dril.lol
