:grin:Well. can you believe how effing chuffed i am! Just bought my first mk2 gti for one hundred squid on a J plate. It was outside someones house, I left a note on it with my number asking if it was for sale. Yes, was the reply. but it's a non runner. And with that my mate silkyballs came with me to have a look. After a while of sticking his head under the bonnet and making it look like he knew what he was doing, he said "yeah man, for £100 you can't go wrong". We towed it to my house and it was left on my drive for a couple of days. Since then he has been back a couple of times and reset the timing, put another lift pump in (which appeared to not work also), pulled the fuse box out, found a load of 'dead' wires (pulled them out), found another cut wire (which turned out to be the wire for the lift pump which was butchered when the alarm was taken out by some t**t!!) re-attatched it and, yep you guessed it, started up after a bit of fiddling. He took it for a rip around the block and returned to say " That runs alright and feels ok". Nice one. And with that he had to go home for his tea!! He said he'll be back tomorrow to sort the timing out with the strobe and i should be ok. I'll be going to Bug Jam in my first MK2 GTI after all. GOOD OL' SILKYBALLS, WHADDA GUY!!
