Satnav instructions
« on: 23 June 2006, 08:07 »
Hi
I was wondering if there was anyone on the forum who could either post me a photocopy or email me, the instructions to the Satnav.  I think its called the MFD2, its got a colour screen.  I live in Switzerland and I bought the car from an Italian, so the handbook and everything else is in Italian

The dealer is hopefully going to source me an english language handbook but its going to take 2 weeks!!

Apart from that I'm enjoying the car, haven't noticed the steering rack issue but I'll look out for it now.

I was thinking about a TT with the DSG, but there still pretty expensive and I got a good deal on the golf as the seller was in a hurry.  He was buying his friends's Lexus RX.

The handbook I have (3.4 MFD DVD) is 48 pages long, so I don't think many of us will have the time to photo copy the whole thing for you - hand on for the dealer to get you a copy... it's not exactly the best manual I've ever read either - to be honest, it's just as easy to play around and learn how to use the sat nav that way - it's very simple to use actually...

With the Italian handbook, I got a double sided A4 size sheet that had a picture of the Sat nav screen and explanations down the side of what all the buttons did.  This was what I was hoping someone could photocopy or scan for me.

Hopefully someone will have this

Cheers

Well it been a very frustrating day   Got a call from the dealer yesterday that my english language handbook had arrived, at last i thought .  Went there this morning and it was only the handbook and not also the sat nav instructions.  Oh well, I thought 1 out of 2 is not bad.  Drove back to work and then decided to have a quick look at the handbook.  Pictures inside did not match my car.  Its for a mark IV Golf

Totally fed up.  How could they get it so wrong!!  Phoned up the dealer.  They said that they gave the chassis number to VW...
Now I have to wait at least another month

I dropped lucky, I got a DVD nav system off e-bay. I went into my local dealer to buy a manual... as I neither got the car or the Nav from them, and the service guy just handed me on for free. Couldn't believe it.

thats not fare

will try my dealers. they didnt know dvd navs existed so i doubt i would have much luck! is it alot? one thing i havent been able to work out is the tmc stuff and how to know how many satellites i am picking up. I understand that tmc is essentially bollocks in uk - correct?

But a couple of times it showed "tmc classic" and once "tmc 92.7" where it usually shows "tmc seek".

good for you!

The manual does not really go into too much detail... I've took pics of a couple of the pages, hope they help:

Tell me about it...
Mine came with the mid-line computer/no steering wheel control too. Gutted, I thought the GTi was nearing the top of the range? I wanted to change the remote to open all the doors with one press, instead of the daily wrestle I have with it trying to unlock the boot with my hands full. You can set this yourself in the menu in the highline...

I bet it sounds good with the sub.
