mk5 gti sony cd mp3 changer anyone?
« on: 23 June 2006, 07:01 »
hi girls/guys

'nuff respect to the doc - vw dvd sat nav chrome ed bought on ebay landing today (part no 1K0 035 198 B ). just taken old unit out this am - so waiting for post ......  :undecided:

i got lots of cd's and mp3 cd's and so using an ipod not really good option. plus you cant play cd and use sat nav - now that is not a great idea IMO. toyota do a 2DIN sat nav with two drives in it - dvd and cd .... anyway, digressing....

SO what i tink is to use a sony cd/mp3 changer CDX-T70MX. has anyone done this? if so how user freindly is it? any known issues? i plan to stick it under front passenger seat rather then in boot - any reason why not?

I scanned ICE section but didnt see anything on this - so apologies in advance if this should be in that section...

thank you

Just an update - incase anyone interested!

Bought an 06 gti with standard radio.

Swapped it out for an mfd2 color dvd sat nav unit - sound out of this is better than the standard radio!

Hooked up a pioneer actv sub.

Hooked up a 6cd mp3 sony xplod cd changer!

Problems so far:

1.With 10cd changers the unit doesnt "see" other 4 discs. it wont even play on from end of disc 6 to beginning of disc7

2. you cant skip to next track on mp3 cd. it will go back to track 1. you can fwd/rwd only. used different adaptors (vw one and a connects 2 one). This happens with both sony 10disc and 6disc changers.

3. Funny though - tested one sony 6disc chnger - exactly the same as all the others tested - and this skipped to next track?! guy wanted £300 so i told where to go.... So could this unit have a different chipset or something? Any ideas?

I have done the usual - hooking up with everything off, then turning on, resetting radio, using mp3 discs without folders .....

thanx for any ideas ... plan to hook some pix up too. 3k on the clock on my 40 day old gti and me is luvin it!

Does anyone know if the phatnoise box fits in the armrest? CD changers are so last year!?
If so, is it just a matter of swapping them over, or does new wiring need to go to the headunit?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys... I've managed to screw up AGAIN!

I bought a Phat Noise system after reading about it on this thread and following the link to ebay... the seller is telling me that it will not work on my Mk5 Golf GTI as apparently, it does not recognise the unit - or something like that... but he isn't sure as he isn't an expert or anything like that. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if not, how do I get it to work? Also, he mentioned something about a CD changer cable - I am sure my GTI doesn't have one - do I have to get one those too?  Tried to save some money and got stung - as usual - when will I ever learn?
