cruisiing it should be achievable.

When I tried, i could get the long term average up to 37mpg, but any 'press on' driving, excessive town driving or 80mph+ and it soon drops to 30ish. As a comparison, I owned a 2.0 Bora (same as golf gti engine) a 1.6 8v Bora and both were less economical than the 1.8T in similar driving.

I found my 1.8T very good when I drove sensibley, but when I wanted to have fun it drank the fuel like no tomorrow!

Is that the Z3 with the lazy 6cyl 2.0 that was fitted to E36?

If so, I had a 320i touring (1997) and that was hopeless for mpg - I seem to remember depressing figures of around late 20's, so the 1.8T will be miles better. IN fact, a 330Ci sport was better than the 2.0 6cyl pile of poo!
