How many miles it done?  They're supposed to last the life of the engine aren't they?

Hearing stuff like this always concerns me...  Having just bought a cash absorbtion device VR6 myself, and already having had to fix some big-ass cooling pipe, a door lock, an electric window, the clutch slave cylinder, and now have discovered a CV joint is knackered..   I can well believe it'll decide to throw it's chain out the bonnet and allow the engine to grid itself to pieces.  I think it hates me.

And I bought it off a mate of mine!  Bastard.  To be totally honest, he either honestly didn't know about the problems (I lived with him while he owned it for 2 years - I only moved out about a month and a half before buying it)  And none of it is that bad really - I know a cheap mechanic and can do quite a bit myself   And at least I know which bits are new.

nah timing chains are pretty much due at this age. did them on a vr two weeks ago, gearbox off job takes a while as so much has to come off to get them out, but they run so much sweeter afterwards!
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
