Advice for a newbie - GTI options

Hi folks, just registered here this evening after lurking for a few days, you seem like a helpful bunch, so here goes!

I'm thinking of ordering the following:

3 Dr, Golf Gti
DSG 
diamond black pearl
18" Monza Alloys
Front Centre Armrest
Winter Pack
Bi-Xenon Headlights
Cruise Control
Highline Multifunction Computer

I've been quoted £22750 from a reputable broker and it's a UK spec Golf coming direct from volkswagen uk.

Is it worth the extra £1,600 or so for the anthracite leather seats, or are the Interlagos cloth seats ok? Specifically, I'm thinking that it might help resale value in a few years time. Would this be right?
Are the leather/cloth seats different in shape? or is it just a difference in materials?

Also, is there anything there I really could do without, or should have ordered?
I'm pretty near my budget at £22,750, so if I add the leather seats, I might remove the bi-xenons and winter pack etc....

What's the position with buying from a broker? If I should have an issue with the car, such as the steering rack, or misalligned door that some of you describe, will an ordanary dealer be happy to fix it for me under warranty?

Help me make up my mind people!!!

18" wheels & Xenons are a must have!
Winter pack is a good choice too, but not a must have I suppose.
DSG - I hated it, but that's just me.
Cruise control is a waste of money - every car I've had it on has seen it hardly ever used

I've found the park sensors really worth having and yes, the seats are the same design, leather or cloth. Personally, I hated the cheap looking check cloth and went for leather - so much nicer and easier to maintain - plus, yes, it does help at resale.

The options I have on my gti (took deliverey last week!) are

3 door manual, tornado red... 18" wheels, leather, sat nav, uprated speakers in front, armrest, cd changer, winter pack, park sensor, electric folding mirrors, hi line computer, boot liner - plus, R32 rear lights & colour coded rear valance/skirts.  Once it's run-in... oettinger exhaust with Morego remap to 250bhp & handling pack

sounds like a good package to me. I would be tempted to go for the cloth seats with that retro pattern but then again i do drive mark 2's and being in mark 1's so would try and keep it retro ish. But then you have got to think about the fact that your spending 20k plus on a car with out leather seats which as said would help the resale, so what I would do if I had that budget would be to get it in manual (persuming that its considerably cheaper) and get the leather. thats just my outlook on things anyway

Well folks - I've done it.
Put down a deposit on a new GTI
I ordered the following:

3 Dr, Golf Gti
DSG 
diamond black pearl
18" Monza Alloys
Front Centre Armrest
Winter Pack
Bi-Xenon Headlights
Cruise Control
Highline Multifunction Computer
iPod connection
Semi-Rigid boot liner
Rear tinted privacy glass.


Now I've to patiently wait on the blummin thing!
Can't wait to get it

Nice one fella, I think you should have gone for the leather though....  The lumbar support is fantastic, but if it's not your bag then cool....  Enjoy
