Hi all. i just got a Golf GTI DSG (With APR remap). It's a 3dr, in Metalic Black.

I had a 4.2 S4, but decided I wanted a westfield aswell. Amazingly I found a chap with this golf AND a Westfield, so we did a straight swap!! A good result all round.

I had to collect the Golf from Hull and drive it (and the Westfield, sans Doors, or roof!) back to Surrey. Amazingly the Golf returned 37mpg! I'm really impressed with the torque and power - there isnt as much in it from the S4 as I was expecting.

Inside the Golf it is fair to say the quality is very much down on the S4 - but then that was a £42k car new - so you really can't compare. The front tyres (original) were looking pretty knackered on the edges, so today put some new Eagle F1's on for not much more than £200 (car is on 17s).

I'm planning to put the DVD Nav in the car - as I miss this from the S4 - and the basic stereo is pretty pants compared to the S4 Bose... A few questions;

Need new wipers - Halfrauds reccomended the Bosch wipers for the Mk4, but the drivers is too short - were is the best place to get them?

Has anyone fitted the ipod connector in the arm-rest when they didnt have changer before? What is the best way to get more music in the car - preferabley a solution that will worth with the present head unit, and the MFD2...

Finally, has anyone ever had leather retro-fitted - and if so who/where/how much/pictures?

Thanks!

Ed

You can have your trim made in various colours and textures, perforated, various colours of stitching and piping etc.

I'll dig out there number.

Here's one of there X5's - the leather has been changed to GREY & BLACK plus all the original wood has been painted in piano key black by them.

Sorry that the photos are mainly the wood use thats what I was having done to my Range Rover at the time but you get the picture!

Dead easy it just plugs into the cd changer plug on the rear of the headunit!

To get the head unit out please see my posting about fitting car kit at the to of Mk5 golf section.
