it should be and don't let VW UK fob you off either!! i don't think its on the website though  :undecided:

basically the part has to 'fail' as they send the parts and the invoice of the work to VW UK in Milton Keynes to verify that the parts have failed!

Hi all, been reading the forums for a while but this is my first post.
My window went down last week on my 2001 2.0 GTi , and stayed down, so thought it must be the regulator clip.
(I even managed to get the VW dealer to confirm they would pay for the repairs!)
However, the window has recently started to work again - intermittently and slowly - which leads to me to believe it may be the motor, and not the clips.  Not keen on taking to to the dealer only to be told the clips are ok, and they will have to sting me for a new motor.

Any advice would be great thanks.

do you hear any crunching noises?? if you do then it's the clips.

if not then there maybe something stopping the window from moving freely i.e tree sap etc.

best bet is to whip off the door card and have a look for yourself.  takes about 10 minutes to do.

read the how to guide at the top

Thanks Rhyso for the quick reply!

No crunching noises, just a slooooow movement sometimes stopping altogether....

Looks like I'm going to have to get the door card off then, could be painfull with my diy skills - oh well

If the window is clear - what are my chances with replacing the motor??!!

Cheers.

If you can get one cheapo from a scrapyard all the better.. if not try GSF or eurocarparts. If the doorcard is already off its a 5 min job to replace it.

Say bye bye

The clips are behind the metal door panel. Take the door card off and pull out the big rubber gromets (about 3 inch diameter) then lower the window until you see the clamps through the holes.. the clamps should be fixed back to the rails with metal clips.. if you see white plastic ones.. they havent been done (or atleast havent been done with the proper parts)

Say bye bye
