Another week another problem

Two weeks ago the MAF sensor needed replaceing.
Last week the garrage cracked my bumper and are still painting the tim before it can be fixed and now....

Just got home, was reversing the car into a parking space and noticed the orange Engine Check light was lit up, I looked in the manual and it says it can either be an emisions problem or lambada sensor fault. Has anyone else had this and can offer some advice?
If the problem fixes it'self will this light automatically reset or does it need to be reset manually with a VAG-COM?

The car is going back to the garrage on Tuesday to have the bumper fixed so I'm hopping they can sort this issue out then, but I would be interested to know if anyone has any insights or advice.

Note: The car drives and performs just like usual but with an orrange light on the dash, no other information or warning lights!

there are loads of reasons why that light could come on and VW usually charge you to plug it into their diagnostic equipment to see what the fault is.

The light does go out on it's own accord (happened on my wife's 2.0) but it appears now and again just to annoy me I suspect.

I've said it before somewhere on here, but I think modern cars have too many warning lights. If the cars been looked after and properly maintained I would'nt worry too much about it.

Thanks, it's just had a major service and stuff so I'm not too worried, it could be the lander sensor or something I guess.
It's going in to the garrage tomorrow so I'll get them to look then.

Also as I'm fed up with paying for people to read a fault code, I've gone and splashed out on a USB to OBE2 cable and I've downloaded the shareware VAGCOM software (maybe I'll find the full version somewhere!?!) So at least when that arrives I'll be able to work out for myself what problems are. Also if anyone needs the same down my way I'll be happy to trot on over to plug it in and read some faults.

Just an update incase anyone is interested.
The warning light on the dash came on because one of the fuel injectror bank sensors reported that the mixture was too rich. It then tripped the light which stayed on. The garrange don't know what would have caused this but they reset the light and it's been fine since.

With this in mind I've ordered a VAG-COM cable and downloaded the shareware software so in the future instead of paying the garrage to clear codes, I can do it myself... or at least have an idea of what a problem is before they poke around and make it worse
