Right have just jacked up the rear end and spun each of the rear wheels in turn.. This is the conclusion...
Nearside Rear, when set of into a very light spin will rotate about 3/4 of a turn then come to a stop. A whirring sound can be heard when it is being spun. Did the free play check for the bearings and there is a definite wobble in the nearside wheel when checking at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position. Not so much free play from either side (3 + 9). I'd say there is quite a bit of free play..
Offside Rear... When set in a slow spin will rotate freely and will not come to a stop with no whirring sound to be heard, then only sound that can be heard on each rotation is an ever so slight scraping noise of metal on metal on each rotation. Sound last about a second or two then it's silent until that part of the wheel comes round again..
So from that I'm am having it a guess that my Nearside wheel earing is shot, and that the offside has a slight catch of which I have no idea what it could be. Both wheels will not rotate when handbrake is applied slightly or on full. So is it the wheel bearing making the noise or do I also have to look elsewhere once the bearings have been done? May as well do both sides while I'm at it..
Hope that helps diagnose this further... Thanks so far

**Been suggested that I may have warped discs and that replacing them along with bearings might be a good idea.. I had the car through it's MOT a month or so ago and nothing was noted or said about the brakes. On the paperwork I got the brakes seemed fine.. Axle 1 was 300.. Axle 2 150 and parking brake 160. Would have thought this might have been picked up.. *shrugs***
