Kangaroo Golf.......whats going on

ok let me set the scene, I was driving along yetserday evening, car just switches of, all lights etc working just engine shuts down, gave it 20 mins and it fires up again drive home, write up on here "fuel filter change any  tips" post as i thought there must of been a blokage

well driving along today, the car suddenly starts revving all over the shop and kangarooing down the road, I pull over give it 20 mins and try to restart but she wont, turn over but no spark............give it another five mins but this time i notice the rev needles moving up and down by  itself without the engine even on...............get her start and kangaroo home

so whats everyones best diagnosis?

88 16v, I think i might have he same problem as you in the "running crap" post

first thing i did is go thru all the electrical connecters for the iginition and cleaned them up - this includes the ones hidden under the scuttle cover! and clean up points also

I sometimes lose power and the car starts to judder... dunno if thats same kinda thing? In the end it started doing it and making a funny noise so we changed fuel pump and (touch wood) its been fine ever since

i'm gonna change the fuel fiter tomorrow and give the dizzy a clean aswell, is there anything i can put in the petrol tanks that will clean the gunk out of the fuel lines, you know abit like the stuff you put in your engine to flush it.................................................

Try some Redex in the fuel tank.
