I've never seen the point of braided brake hoses on a road car.  Go OEM and save your money for something more worthwhile.

humm, does depend on how you use the brakes, and how much power is running through them.

Personally if you have the money to spare on braided cables i would get them, as they do reassure you when braking hard for emergencies.

I switched to braided hoses and i cant beleive the difference in pedal fell and overall braking performance

If you have the spare cash do it!!

If your Hoses have split or a busted just replace them all!!!

But be warned it aint easy due to the fact your old hoses will be on good an tight!!
and access will be an issue!!

I did mine on a ramp with my mechanic friend and it still took 3-4 hours

Braided is the way to go, looks good, performs good and lasts longer than the rubber! Do them all, you can get all 6 done by a Hydraulic hose place (like PIRTEK) for about a tenner each.
The jobs not a bad one if you got the right size spanners, they will be tight but a bit of WD pre work does help, gives you a chance to put new fluid in too, that makes a difference, don't cut the corners to cut cost, these things bring your pride and joy to a stop when you need it!!!

theres a hyrraulic hose place just up the road from me, have often wondered if they would be able to a make some braided lines for me!!
I assume they would need the originals to copy off though, which would mean putting my car out of action again!

don't suppose anyone ahs got some old ones knocking about

Have any of the people who think that braided hoses improve feel, put them on in place of brand new OEM hoses, or tired, old OEM hoses?  If the latter, it's not a fair comparison.

There's also no telling what bleeding the brakes does for feel, which is an activity that is always performed when changing hoses.  (I hope.  :) )

It's like the situation with exhausts.  People replace a battered OEM exhaust with a loud aftermarket one, and assume that the improvement is nothing to do with the fact that the old parts were battered.

As for reassurance, are there any recorded examples of accidents or near misses that would have been avoided with braided hoses?  If not, I'm as reassured as I can be by VW OEM quality.

Just my opinion.  :)
