Gti Turbo engine problems

 :-\I have a MK4 gti turbo with 35000 miles on the clock (2001). For the last 5-6 months its been driving a bit rough as if its getting the air supply cut at times. This causes it to loose power in first and second gear and generally feel as if its unsafe and not smooth at all.

Has anyone else had the same kind of problems. The warranty is about to run out within the next month or so and I just wonder if its going to lead to something nasty outside of this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I would get it into main dealer as soon as possible and get them to check it out - you deffo don't want it going wrong out of warranty.

If its misbehaving now its probably only going to get worse, so I'd make sure it was all repaired under warranty, and don't accept it back until you're 100% happy with it.

split hose maybe, or the naff bosch plastic diverter valve might be shot.

Maybe coil packs or air flow meter.

I've had new coil packs and air flow meter with no luck. The garage did mention a throttle body linkage but didn't do any thing. Its also has Turbo recirculation valve, turbo dump valve, change over valve. A link fixed between turbo and throttle valve by replacing hose clip.
Problem seems worse when car is started from cold.

Apart from a coolant sensor in header tank its had no more faults found yet.

It just seems to get worse gradually after each time its been fixed.

on the plus side though its great when running ok

Any other know things that may find the answer would be greatfully accepted.

If its still under warranty then take it back and tell them to get it sorted. Surely when the car plays up it should show up on a fault reader.

yeah will do, in fairness the garage have been great, I just wondered if it was some obscure little problem that could easily be missed

if still underwarrenty demand to get problem sorted once and for all, if not and vw cant solve it take on a rolling road and have any 'fault' codes etc looked at whilst under load, things behave differently when under load, they may have a better insite as to whats causing the probs as may not be happening stood idiling in workshop!!, normal faults are the coilpacks and mafs but you should get a reading for these being faulty (even though youve had changed) ive read of people having new coil packs fitted for them to go nearly straight away after!!

Anybody know of a good rolling road in or around co. Durham??

I have the exact same problem, been to VW 3 times, 3 different places, 3 computers and they cannot find the fault. Am getting very annoyed....
