Mk3 Anniversary
« on: 30 May 2006, 12:56 »
Hi All

Just joined as ive repaced my wallet emptying Seat Leon Cupra R with a more money friendly Anniversary.

This is my first golf after a Scirocco GT2, Corrado G60, Polo Gti and the Leon.

Im real impressed apart from the little fault of it not 'breathing' properly on idle and between 3 and 4k revs on acceleration (not all the time, intermitant problem)..
Had a look through the forum and seems to back up a fault diagnosis by my VW garage of a Faulty Air Mass Meter..

Is this a common fault and is the heat shield rattling a common fault too...????

Cheers

16v Anniversary
I think after the Mk1 the Mk3 is the best looking golf, although the new one looks hot  :nerd:

ok..

for the breathing thing.. i'd

1) check all the vacuum hoses for leaks + good connections

2) check that no 'breathing mods' have been made..

3) check the brake servo vacuum feed for leaks too (should have been covered by 1 :P buts its a bit seperate..)

4) clean out the ISV.. dead easy to get at on a valver.

i've had all the above before.. so it could be any of them..
