not quite sure why using a 1.8 would be better than a 2ltr,

Its not necessarily better but you can use the forged parts out of a G60

There's no replacement for displacement ;) bahn brenner do allsorts of gucci stuff. For 1.88 and 2.0 including all the spacer head gasket parts and dished pistons, forged everything and uprated allsorts.

Especially this one it makes me sex wee      :nerd: :smug:

 Thats what I always thought but this yank dude makes a good point:

"The 2.0 16V will cost way more to give you the same power. The cool thing to remember is with a turbo, you can turn up the boost"

Those Bahnbrenner kits look good but they are well cheap  :undecided: cheap things worry me

They don't look or work cheap seen a couple at the dragstrip and everytime I see them I go and stare at my bank balance and that website!! they are awesome machines and tbf. If your going to do it right first time because in 6 months you will suddenly go damn wish I'd gone 2l.

Also the 1.8KR is a high revving monster it doesn't really go till 4k add a turbo that doesn't go properly until 2.5k is a recipe for poor lap times, 1/4 mile, 0-60 and will make a huge difference to driveability in normal day to day use.

Best solution is how these guys do it, mk3 2l block and cable change gearbox, Bahn Brenner supercharger limited kit, Dished pistons, Forged con rods and crank, spacer plate and metal gaskets, Merc SLK supercharger, G60 radiator and intercooler, mappable injection or split second fifth injector, bigger bore injectors, high octane (ultimate, optimax) fuel.

Your looking at a constant 250-300 without playing with pulleys and water injection, nos. most of them drive as a daily driver and just dial it all down on the laptop with a saved file. really really really really tempting and at the same price as a 1.8t  minus buying the engine :) and then there's  that legendary 16v engine coupled with a 2.0 bottom end on original KR head and a supercharger your laughing over most modern cars. Look out for a stock looking black mk2 called scooby eater it's a flying machine and does eat everything except big ol V8's.

Do it and then I can read your how to and find out how much it really costs if your not a Dragaholic. :)

Easiest way?

1.8T block from an Audi or MK4. Cheap, reliable fun, sod all this bollox with doing turbo conversions to standard old blocks.

Like I said, may not be interesting, but will deliver the desired result. May not be much of a 'characterfull' engine tho.

not exactly.... i was planning a 20vt conversion out of a tt/s3 using a BAM engine, and even as i'm doing all the work myself it was working out costing me loads. so far i've got pretty much all i need, component wise, for around £500. got quotes to do the internal bits for around £150, turbos can be sourced though a handy contact so as far as i'm concerned thats a bargain load of power. plus its a bit "different" than a 20vt, not that i don't love them! ;)

i've also realised i was planning on keeping this under wraps till it was all sorted but ah well!
